The multimedia package „Wizadora“ for early English language learning, developed by Hanspeter Hauke during his work at SWR Television together with a team of educators, programmers and graphic designers, was awarded the Japan Prize in Tokyo in 2001.
The Jury
The international jury particularly praised its innovative approach to introducing children to English through playful, scenario-based activities. It also highlighted the creative teaching of vocabulary and grammar, as well as the effective integration of cultural information about English-speaking countries.
The program
This program is targeted at elementary school children and intends to provide a fun way of learning English as a foreign language using the amusing wizard Wizadora. The CD-ROM is related to the program and helps children learn basic computer operation and basic words and appropriate grammar for everyday conversation. It also provides exercises on the individual level.
